I have a new kind of respect for Jay Z. Did y'all see him pick up the purse Solange threw at him and gave it to her, only for her to use it to attack him again? Some people are actually calling on NY prosecutors to file an assault charge against Solange, but so far no charges has been filed. More pics after the jump..

Nigerian police/Lagos state government warn against jungle justice
Happy news! The Lagos State Government has warned residents of the state against taking the laws into their hands, saying the full weight of the law would be brought on people caught engaging in jungle justice, I.e beating, burning or killing any suspect, whether alone or in a mob
In a statement released last Friday, the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye, said;
"The full weight of the law would be brought to bear on anyone henceforth caught engaging in jungle justice, no matter what the alleged criminal could have done. The mob may well be wrong and the helpless victim may be anyone’s child or relative. Even if they did commit the alleged offence, there is a process for prosecuting and showing the evidence in court so that proven criminals can be properly punished according to law,”
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Police also released a statement this morning, saying anybody caught engaging in jungle justice will bear the full wrath of the law.

AGN president Ibinabo Fiberesima finally replies Clarion Chukwura

A few weeks ago, actress Clarion Chukwura, released a statement criticizing Ibinabo Fiberisima's actions as the president of Actors Guild of Nigeria. She later granted a few interviews taking a swipe at Ms Fiberesima. The AGN president has finally responded. See a statement she released this afternoon below...
My Dear Chief Clarion Chukwurah,
I bring you peace and warm felicitation from the leadership of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), a Guild that I would like for the purpose of emphasis to re-describe as the only umbrella body for Screen Actors in Nollywood, with a conservative estimate of over five million members spread across 35 states in Nigeria including FCT Abuja.
I bring you greetings from the leadership of a Guild that has in the last two years been repositioned as the pride of its members, Nollywood and the foremost Guild in the continent of Africa.
I was away on a short vacation when my attention was drawn to two publications (one an open letter and the other an interview) credited to your very respected self, where you cast a lot of aspersions on myself and where you resorted, because of your inordinate ambition to become President of the Guild, to feeding the general public with deceit and falsehood.
Ordinarily I would not have replied you openly, because I personally do not join issues with my colleagues- whether junior or senior on the pages of the paper or on social media. Besides, as President, I should be seen to be uniting Members of the Guild and not causing disaffection, as your unfortunate outburst set out to do

Onyeka Onwenu expresses reservations on missing girls, calls out Wole Soyinka
Iconic singer Onyeka Onwenu, who is the current DG of National Centre for Women Development, was a guest on Channels TV Sunrise programme this morning Monday May 12th where she spoke about the missing Chibok girls. She expressed her reservations about the case and also called out Professor Wole Soyinka for referring to the First Lady as 'that woman' in the interview he had with CNN's Christiane Amanpour.
What am saying is that, is it at this time we have to vilify the person of the First Lady who did the right thing by inviting these people? A lot of that has gone on and I take offense at this even as a woman. When I hear someone like Wole Soyinka referring to her on CNN as that woman, something in me boils because there is a lack of respect for women. This has happened not just with this first lady but with every single first lady and perhaps its when they have passed away or when they've left office that we suddenly realize the contributions that they've made and these women work very hard and care and love this country so it really offends me to see her vilified and I was at those meetings and at no point did she say Oh I don't believe the girls were taken." Ms Onwenu said.For those who can't watch the video, I transcribed it.

What I know is that the original Abubakar Shekau is dead; the person claiming to be the national leader now is not the original Abubakar Shekau. If security sources tell you that somebody is dead, you don't have to come out and doubt that" she said.

'My dad lent me money to pay salaries while I was governor' - Lucky Igbinedion

"This is the first time I am saying this. Two people that I owe a lot of gratitude to in Edo State that made my tenure successful. My father and (Chief Tony) Anenih. In the darkest of days, when the state was broke, we could not pay salaries, we could not do anything, I run to the two of them and they will lend the state money. They will loan the state money, it is documented, it is there, when banks will not even touch us, I would go to them. When pensioners will go to him crying or lie in front of Govt House, a couple of times I went to Chief Anenih and he gave money just to make sure the government ran smoothly.” he said. Continue...
